AI SDRs automate before they understand. Wave understands first.

Reach every buyer the way they actually want to be reached. AI SDRs put outreach on autopilot on day one, with nothing behind it but a template and a list. Sender reputation drops, replies dry up, and once your domain crosses the spam threshold the classification does not come back. Wave does the understanding first, hands the play to a person, and earns each automated step with proof.

Quick answer

Wave is marketing intelligence, not an AI SDR. It works out who on the buying committee to reach, what they should see next, and when, writes that into your CRM, and hands the play to a person. Today a human decides every send; the one send that exists is a single, human-clicked email from your own domain, switched off by default. Automation in Wave is earned: a step goes on autopilot only after the content is there, the committee is defined, the motions are aligned, and a control group says it works.

Key capabilities

  • Understanding before automation
  • Committee seats, curriculum, and who is missing
  • A control group as the license to automate
  • One human-clicked send, off by default
  • No sequences, bulk sends, or scheduled sends
  • An off switch you hold on every step
  • A receipt on every write

The problem

An AI SDR is confident on day one, and knows nothing.

The category sells speed to first send. What it cannot sell is any reason to believe the message is right, and your domain pays for the difference.

Automation before understanding.

An AI SDR starts sending on day one. It does not know who is on the committee, what they have read, or whether the last message worked.

Volume is the product.

The tool earns its keep by sending more. Your domain reputation is the collateral, and the spam ceiling is shared across everyone who sends from your company.

Replies decay.

Buyers learn the pattern. Reply rates on templated outbound fall as recipients recognize it, and once they filter you, no volume gets through.

How Wave does it

The earned ladder, in order.

Each rung has to hold before the next one is worth standing on. The order is not a preference, it is what makes the automation safe.

  1. 01

    Cover the content.

Grade the library by role and stage; every red cell is the next brief.

  2. 02

    Define the committee.

Seats, the curriculum each seat needs, and who is missing.

  3. 03

    Align the motions.

Marketing and sales on the same play, the same theme, the same person.

  4. 04

    Prove it.

A control group Wave leaves alone, compared daily, with a confidence range.

  5. 05

    Then automate the step.

When the foundation holds and you turn it on, Wave carries that step, with an off switch you hold and a receipt on every write.

Where it fits

The stance behind every Wave capability.

Autopilot, earned is not a feature with a switch. It is the order Wave works in: content, then committee, then motions, then proof, then automation. Every capability sits on one of those rungs, and the Play Engine is where the finished play is handed to a person.

Your sources
Wave
A person, then HubSpot

Wave reads your content, people, and engagement through native connectors, decides who to reach and what they need next per tenant, and writes that into HubSpot today as contact properties (Marketo next). Every writeback is logged with previous value, new value, and the model version that produced it, and writeback is off until you turn it on.

Works alongside Play Engine, AI Lift Experiments, Trust Center.

Why Wave is different

Same finish line. Opposite order.

Every AI SDR starts on autopilot and asks you to trust it. Wave starts with a person deciding and earns each automated step with proof. The finish line is the same: a machine carrying the sending burden so your team spends its time on positioning and on the person in front of them. The order is the whole difference.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about Wave and AI SDRs.

Is Wave an AI SDR?

No. Wave decides who to reach, what to say, and when. Today, people and your marketing platform do the reaching.

Will Wave ever send on its own?

That is the goal, one earned step at a time, with a control group as the license and an off switch you hold. Today a human clicks send, and there are no sequences, bulk sends, or scheduled sends in Wave.

Will Wave affect our domain reputation?

Wave has no volume path today. If your team enables single sends, they go from your own verified domain with one-click unsubscribe, a suppression check at the moment of sending, and a cap per account.

What about our SDR tool?

Keep it. Wave writes who to reach and what to send into your CRM; your sequencing tool can read those fields. Wave does not replace the tool that sends today.

Does Wave write the email?

It drafts a recap of what each person read and a nudge to the next asset, for a person to approve. It never sends the draft on its own.

How is this different from a “human in the loop” AI SDR?

A human-in-the-loop AI SDR still runs a sequence once approved, with nothing proven behind it. Wave earns each step with a control group and can show you the receipt.
